AlgoRhythm Ep. 16
Welcome back to another "unforced" listening experience. Listen... if you feel like "dreaming" to some tasty licks.
Yo! Before we jump into the music, everyone should drop what they’re doing and try to grab a pair of the new Salehe Bembury x Crocs collab. All three colors are straight 🔥. Also, before you ask, I’m a size 9 US Mens 😉 ha.
Anywho. This week’s playlist features quite a bit of new music. Tunes for work, working out, doodling, cooking, long drives, day dreaming, and/or staring off into space. Regardless of what you’re doing there is something for you.
Toss your earbuds in, turn up your speakers, and enjoy.

N95 - Kendrick Lamar
Pairs well with… Mr Morale & the Big Steppers. Lamar’s 5th album is top notch and features some incredible tracks. “N95” is the feature single on this album and launches itself into a hornet’s nest of touchy subjects such as mask-wearing, hypocrisy and “designer bullshit”. Is this album as good as To Pimp A Butterfly? Only time will tell. Regardless it’s lyrically dense, full of symbolism, nuance, and will have you listening very intently.
Glory - Nora Van Elken + Mixed Feelings
Pairs well with… sunny, warm spring nights. A combo of keys, a downtempo beat, and silky vocals give this song a very ethereal vibe. Perfect for relaxing or pushing the furniture aside and dancing around the living room in the evening light.
Dreaming - Le Youth + Tailor
Pairs well with… an immersion of rhythm, distortion, and upbeat instrumentation. Le Youth releases his second album this Friday (May 27), and if “Dreaming” is any indication of what the album is going to be like I’m extremely excited. “Dreaming” is the perfect blend of sound that makes you happy, feel good, and puts your mind at ease.
This Can’t Be Everything - Phantoms
Pairs well with… knowing that there’s more out there. Phantoms knocked it out of the park with their new single. “This Can’t Be Everything” it is a six minute masterpiece that takes you on a dynamic musical journey.
HIGHWAY TO YOUR HEART - Lykee Li
Pairs well with… an emotional band-aid. The production of this song is top notch. The harmonies are unreal and the lyrics touch on the complexities of love and loss. It’s a melancholy ballad that deserves to be celebrated. If you dig this song, I highly suggest giving the entire album, EYEYE, a listen.
Daydreaming - Harry Styles
Pairs well with… some Quincy Jones samples. Say what you’d like about Mr. Styles but Harry’s House slaps and is worth a listen. It’s “pop music” at it’s finest. In “Daydreaming” Styles wows with vocals that oscillate between smooth funk to unhinged howling. It’s a fun retro track in modern times.
So What? - Sonnee
Pairs well with… introspective dance. I don’t know if “introspective dance” is a thing, but if it is, this song would fit the mold beautifully. The atomsperic pads and sweet piano melody give it a lush sound that’s perfect for late night listening or floating around the dancefloor.
Dusk - Manila Killa + Lights
Pairs well with… optimism and energy. Manila Killa is back! Dusk is a new single that uses upbeat syths, a lively beat, and velvety lyrics from Lights. A summer road trip anthem for sure.
There ya go. Eight new tasty licks. Also, I know it’s Monday but incase you’re looking to party, rip an hour long work-out, crush a six pack with da boys, play some pong, (you get the point…) it’s your lucky day. Big Bootie 21 has hit interwebs. Tip of the cap to Two Friends for another banger. Until next time, keep those toes tappin’ and that head-bangin’.
